Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the pancreas stops producing insulin. Insulin is a hormone that allows people to get energy from food. This happens when the body’s immune system attacks the insulin producing cells within the pancreas, these are called beta cells. Those who are diagnosed with type one diabetes can not prevent this diagnosis, it has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle choices. There is also nothing that you can do to rid type 1 diabetes.
